Kress Lake is a locally loved yet surprisingly quiet place; some days you may only run into a few people! 
In the mood for a breezy nature walk? Kress Lake has a trailhead that wanders in a full circle around the lake. The trail is wheelchair accessible, perfect for anyone wanting to explore wildlife, with bald eagles and many species of birds seen regularly. Just under 15 minutes from Woodland, Kress Lake offers you a serene and bountiful place to fish!

Yale Lake

If you are in the mood for a drive out of town, then pack a delicious cooler of food and head to Yale Lake, 32 miles from Woodland in Ariel, Washington. To say the area is picturesque is a total understatement! Beneath Mt. St. Helens, the waters glisten with a spectacular view of the snowy mountain peak and green mountains surrounding you. Yale Lake is known for its Kokanee fish, local coastal cutthroat trout, and bull trout. You’ll want to explore the water by kayak and boat for the most luck! The waters are extremely calm, making it a wonderful place for standup paddlers and swimmers. Breath in the fresh air, with 7.5 miles for you to adventure from the forested banks. 

Lacamas Lake

For a short getaway under 40 minutes from Woodland, Lacamas Lake is a great fishing spot. This suburban lake has year-round fishing for lots of Washington's prized game fish. During the summer, the lake is alive with catfish, yellow perch, and largemouth bass, some reaching a HUGE size! Rainbow trout are stocked several times a year by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Lacamas is a participating lake in the annual Trout Derby! All you need is a valid fishing license, and you can enter to win a prize just by catching a tagged rainbow trout. It’s a fun challenge for anglers of all experience to join. May to September is really when Lacamas fishing season shines, so make sure to plan a day trip in the summer months ahead!
