10 ideas from our design center partners to inspire your new home.

If you've been thinking about a new home, you've probably seen lots of different home styles, designs, and trends.

We understand it can be overwhelming! That's why we've put together an easy guide of the Top Home Design Trends for 2021*.

The Holt Homes Design Team is always on the lookout for the newest trends, and how to best incorporate them into our homes. Trends are a great way to get inspired by modern styles and find fresh design ideas, especially as a new homeowner getting ready for their design selections appointment.

Top 10 Design Trends for 2021:

  1. Stay Neutral: The new neutrals are calming, relaxing, and versatile. Shades of white, beige, gray and tan create a bright, airy palette that sets the stage to add interesting textures, furniture, and art. Plus, having a continuous color throughout your home can make it feel bigger.

  2. Back to Black: Dark fixtures are here to stay. From kitchen faucets to handles and drawer pulls, black provides a welcome contrast to popular white kitchens and walls.

  3. It's a Pattern: Tile patterns have moved beyond the brick-pattern subway tile to vertical or horizontal stacked subway patterns. The clean lines of this modern design emphasize the beauty of the tiles. Herringbone patterns also continue to shine in everything from backsplashes to tile floors.

  4. Tile Everywhere: Speaking of tile design, tile flooring is also making a comeback. Gone are the 12x12 tan tiles of the past. Now, beautiful geometric cement tile, hexagon-shaped tile, and matte porcelain tile are all making style statements from the ground up.

  5. Natural Stone Countertops: Granite and quartz are here to stay. Slab countertops are still popular and continue to be a durable choice with enduring style.

  6. So Fresh, So Clean: A crisp, white bathroom just looks clean. If you opt for white countertops, floors, and white tile backsplash, a great compliment to these surface selections are light gray painted cabinets. Our top tip? Finish off the look by selecting a light gray grout. This look is fresh but with added dimension.

  7. Crisp Kitchens: Just as white bathrooms are a staple, so are bright, white kitchens. From the walls to the sink and cabinets, white finishes are a timeless design choice.

  8. Cabinet Color Combos: If you love having everything light and bright, but still want some subtle character in your kitchen, try this next trend: a contrasting kitchen island. A different paint color or wood stain for your island makes for a great focal point right in the heart of your entertaining space.

  9. Dark-Painted Fireplaces: To create contrast, a dark-painted fireplace really dials up the drama when paired with light walls and warm wood floors. To achieve this look, you can opt for a darker tile surround, or add coat of paint for a full accent wall.

  10. Oak Floors: The most popular look in wood floors is oak, which gives a warm, mid-tone that goes with almost any decor, and looks fresh against light, neutral walls.
